Met-Glu-Val-Gly-Trp-Tyr-Arg-Pro-Pro-Phe-Ser-Arg-Val-Val-His-Leu-Tyr-Arg-Asn-Gly-Lys
Application
MOG Protein 35-55 is used as an antigen/immunogen to induce anti-MOG antibodies to induce experimental diseases such as experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) for study.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) is believed to function as an adhesion protein that support myelination of nerves. MOG is studied to understand the mechanisms of diseases such as adrenoleukodystrophy, vanishing white matter disease, multiple sclerosis (MS) and Rubella-induced mental retardation.
General description
Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) is widely expressed at the extracellular surface of myelin sheaths and oligodendrocytes in the central nervous system. The MOG gene is mapped to human chromosome 6p22.1.
