N-nitrosation of secondary amines using various heterogeneous catalysts in the presence of Na₂NO₃. In combination with sodium bisulfate for the preparation iodohydrin substituents by the addition of I-OH to alkenes.

General description

Periodic acid (H₅IO₆) is an oxoacid of iodine. It is commonly used as an oxidizing agent in organic synthesis for the preparation of useful chemical intermediates. Periodic acid is also used in oxidative cleavage reactions.
