Cord blood is known to be a rich source of hematopoietic stem cells, which can be used to research hematopoietic and genetic disorders. Human cord blood is collected from healthy IRB consented donors aseptically at the time of delivery from healthy pregnant women. The donor is required to review and sign an approved procedure-specific consent form prior to the collection.
