Chloride is found in the earth´s crust and can therefore also be found in all natural waters at some concentration. This basic parameter of water analysis can be checked using the MQuant^® Chloride test (formally MColortest^®). MethodChloride ions react with mercury(II) thiocyanate to form slightly dissociated mercury(II) chloride. The thiocyanate released in the process in turn reacts with iron(III) ions to form red iron(III) thiocyanate. The chloride concentration is measured semiquantitatively by visual comparison of the reaction color with a color scale. The unique brilliance of the print and their fine color graduation allow precise analyses, even at the lower end of the concentration range. Using the refill pack 1.18322 containing all the reagents, the original test kit can be used for a very long time, making it a particularly economical and ecological system.
