Application
IGF-Binding Protein-3 human has been used to study its association with follicular fluid and subsequent effect on embryo development.
Biochem/physiol Actions
IGFBP3 (insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 3) is involved in cell survival as well as cell death and tumorigenesis. Epigenetic changes in IGFBP3 affect non-small-cell lung cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, ovarian cancer, skin cancer, urological cancers, breast cancer and gastric cancer. IGFBP3 is a primary growth inhibitor and can reverse the mitogenic functions of IGF-1 (insulin like growth factor 1) by inducing apoptosis.
IGF-BP3 is a 30 kDa cysteine-rich secreted protein. Recombinant human IGF-BP3 is a 28.8 kDa protein consisting of 264 amino acid residues.
General description
IGFBPs (insulin-like growth factor-binding proteins) are mainly required to regulate IGFs (insulin like growth factors) activities. IGFBP3 is a multifunctional protein and is secreted by various cells. It is most ample circulating IGFBP and works in IGF-dependent and -independent mechanisms. The IGFBP3 gene is mapped to human chromosome 7p12.3.Recombinant human IGF-BP3 is a 28.8kDa protein consisting of 264 amino acid residues.
Physical form
Lyophilized from 20mM HCl.
Reconstitution
Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. Do not vortex. This solution can be stored at 2-8°C for up to 1 week. For extended storage, it is recommended to further dilute in a buffer containing a carrier protein (example 0.1% BSA) and store in working aliquots at -20°C to -80°C.
