Application
Interferon-γ from rat has been used to study the effect of lipoxin A4 and 17(R)-resolvin D1 on lipopolysaccharide and interferon-γ-mediated tumor necrosis factor release in rat astrocyte culture. In rats, it has been used in the treatment of INS-1 cell culture to study the conversion factors which change the frequency of β-cell replication or apoptosis to rates of replication or apoptosis.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Ifng (interferon-γ) plays an important role in innate and adaptive immune responses, and helps in defense against bacterial infections, dimorphic yeast and some viral infections. In rats, it is upregulated during ischemic injury in the embolic stroke. In cultured rat intestinal mucosa microvascular endothelial cells, ifng is responsible for inducing expression of interferon-α and interferon-β.
Features and Benefits
The biological activity is measured in an anti-viral assay using L-929 cells infected with EMC virus.
Physical form
Lyophilized from a 0.2 µm filtered solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 50 µg of bovine serum albumin per 1 µg of cytokine.
