Biochem/physiol Actions
HIPK1 (homeodomain-interacting protein kinase 1) is responsible for phosphorylation of homeodomain transcription factors. HIPK1 interacts with DAXX (death domain-associated protein 6) and decreases its transcriptional repression activity. It is up-regulated in breast cancer cell lines and is suggested to be involved in tumorigenesis, partly by serine phosphorylation of p53.
General description
HIPK1 (homeodomain-interacting protein kinase 1) is a serine/threonine protein kinase. It belongs to the HIPK family. The protein is present in the nucleus.
