Application
Angiotensin Fragment 1-7 acetate salt hydrate has been used:to evaluate its effects on a rat model of ventilator-induced diaphragmatic dysfunction (VIDD) with neuromuscular blocking agent infusionto unilaterally inject into the lateral preoptic area (LPA) to study its effects on intravesical pressure, arterial pressure, heart rate, and renal conductance in the female ratsto study its association with influenza A virus (IAV) infection
Biochem/physiol Actions
Angiotensin fragment 1-7 is a biologically active heptapeptide of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS). It is associated with anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic effects in many inflammatory diseases such as asthma, dyslipidemia, renal injury, arthritis, and lung fibrosis. Angiotensin fragment 1-7 acts as a pro-resolving mediator and induces resolution of inflammation via Mas receptor (MasR). It is responsible for relaxation in several vascular beds. Angiotensin fragment 1-7 has a dual action of an angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor agonist and antagonist depending on the presence of angiotensin II. It also serves as a substrate for angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE). Sometimes, angiotensin fragment 1-7 prevents ACE activity leading to decreased angiotensin II generation and improved bradykinin-induced vasodilatation.
