Application
Useful for the study of enzyme kinetics, screening inhibitors, and selectivity profiling.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Phosphodiesterase 2A (PDE2A) plays a vital role in signal transduction. Activated myocardial PDE2 is considered as a potential intracellular antiadrenergic therapeutic method in heart failure (HF). The encoded protein facilitates growth and invasion of the human malignant melanoma PMP cell line. Thus, suppressing PDE2A activity might be considered as a potential method for hindering growth and invasion of malignant tumor cell lines.
General description
Phosphodiesterase 2A (PDE2A) is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 11q13.4. The encoded protein belongs to the PDE superfamily.[34}
Physical form
Formulated in 25 mM Tris-HCl, pH 8.0, 100 mM NaCl, 0.05% Tween-20, 50% glycerol and 3 mM DTT.
Preparation Note
Thaw on ice. Upon first thaw, briefly spin tube containing enzyme to recover full content of the tube. Aliquot enzyme into single use aliquots. Store remaining undiluted enzyme in aliquots at -70°C. Note: Enzyme is very sensitive to freeze/thaw cycles.
Unit Definition
One unit is defined as the amount of enzyme that will convert 1 pmole of 3′, 5′-cAMP to 5′ AMP per min at 30°C
