Biochem/physiol Actions

DNMT3B (DNA methyltransferase 3 beta) controls DNA methylation. Mutations in DNMT3B results in ICF syndrome (immunodeficiency, centromeric instability, facial anomalies). Dnmt3b is required for de novo methylation and mammalian development. It is also essential for methylation of centromeric minor satellite repeats.

General description

Mouse DNMT3B (DNA methyltransferase 3 beta) belongs to the murine Dnmt3 family. It is expressed at high levels in undifferentiated ES cells. Gene is located on chromosome 20 ICF locus. DNMT3B codes for a functional DNA methyltransferase. In human, DNMT3B gene is mapped to chromosome 20q11.2. In mouse, Dnmt3b gene is located on the chromosome 20 ICF locus.

Physical form

Formulated in 25 mM Tris-HCl, pH 8.0, 100 mM NaCl, 0.05% Tween-20, 50% glycerol and 3 mM DTT.

Preparation Note

Thaw on ice. Upon first thaw, briefly spin tube containing enzyme to recover full content of the tube. Aliquot enzyme into single use aliquots. Store remaining undiluted enzyme in aliquots at -70°C. Note: Enzyme is very sensitive to freeze/thaw cycles.
