Caspase 6 is an effector caspase that works downstream in the apoptotic pathway. Caspase 6 may be detected using a variety of chromogenic and fluorogenic peptide substrates built around the VxxD peptide core such as the fluorogenic substrates Ac-VEID-AMC (Acety-Val-Glu-Ile-Asp- amino-4-methylcoumarin) and MCA-VQVDGW-DNP-K-NHe.
