Application
Biotin-conjugated bovine serum albumin binds selectively to different vascular subsets in lymphoid tissues, as demonstrated by both fluorescent and enzymohistochemical techniques, and thus offers a histochemical probe for identification of select microvascular endothelia in lymphoid tissues. In spleen, biotin-BSA binds to red pulp sinuses, but not white pulp vessels (including the central arteriole) nor the marginal sinus. In the thymus, prominent binding was restricted to the capillaries of the corticomedullary area.
Biotin labeled bovine albumin has been used as a component in myosin V processivity experiments. It has also been used to provide biotin tags forneutravidincoating and also to suppress nonspecificcell adhesion during preparation of tension gauge tether (TGT) surface.
