Application
Mitomycin C is used as an inhibitor for studies of cell-free protein biosynthesis. It also inhibits DNA synthesis. It has been used as a genotoxic agent for tumor cells.
Mitomycin C has been used: to cease mitosisin phosphate buffer saline (PBS)for inactivation and plating mouse embryonic fibroblasts (MEFs)as mutagen in mutagenicity assay

Mitomycin C (MMC) acts as a prototype for drugs with bioreductive alkylation. It is mainly found to be active under anaerobic conditions.MMC exhibits a vast clinical antitumor spectrum effectively in gastric, pancreatic and breast cancer.
