General description
Oatmeal Agar is selective media used for cultivating fungi, particularly for macrospore formation, aiding in their classification and identification. Oatmeal is a source of carbohydrates, amino acids, peptides, vitamins, and minerals for fungal growth. Oatmeal Agar stimulates the organism to produce conidial growth, particularly macroconidia in many filamentous fungal organisms, particularly dermatophytes, as well as chlamydospore formation in yeasts, making it a predominantly suitable medium for the study of fungal morphology and identification. Oatmeal Agar is also a suitable medium for the long-term storage of yeasts and molds because of its low nutrient levels,
