Application

Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SDA) is a complex medium for cultivation and isolation of yeasts and molds. The media finds its application in environmental monitoring by determining the yeast and mold count in air through active or passive air monitoring as well as fingerprints of personnel in isolators and clean rooms.

General description

Sabouraud Dextrose Agar + LT- ICR in 90 mm settle plates (non-lockable) is designed for the determination of the total count of yeasts and molds in air via active or passive air monitoring as well as fingerprints of personnel in isolators and clean rooms. Sabouraud Dextrose Medium contains digests of animal tissues (peptones) which provide a nutritious source of amino acids and nitrogenous compounds for the growth of fungi and yeasts. Dextrose is added as the energy and carbon source. The low pH favours fungal growth. Lecithin and polysorbate 80 (Tween®) are neutralizers to inactivate the active agents of disinfectants such as Alcohol (70% ethanol or isopropyl alcohol), Dichloroisocyanurate, Glucoprotamine, Peracetic, quaternary ammonium compounds and Biguanides. To differentiate Tryptic Soy Agar (TSA) from Sabouraud Dextrose agar (SDA), SDA ICR media are filled in pink colored dish.
