Application
1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine-N-[methoxy(polyethylene glycol)-2000] ammonium salt (DSPE-PEG1) has been used to conjugate PEG onto residual amine groups on the surfaces of the functionalized TaO nanoparticles. DSPE-PEG1 may be used as a surfactant for homeotropic anchoring of the mesogen molecules. It may also be used in preparation of Nano formulations.
Biochem/physiol Actions
PEG-modified lipids are typically added to phospholipid vesicles used for drug delivery to facilitate the formation of sterically stabilized liposomes (SSL). These liposomes have low reticuloendothelial system (RES) uptake and they prolong the circulating plasma half-life of the drug. The plasma half-life of the drug can be tuned from several hours to days depending on the size of the PEG and fatty acids attached to the lipid anchor.
