Biochem/physiol Actions
Used for the hydrolysis of glucuronide conjugates in urinary metabolite analysis
Endogenous beta-glucuronidase is a lysosomal enzyme involved in digestion of glucuronide-modified catabolites.Microbial beta-glucuronidase found in microbiota can cause re-absorption of metabolites by hydrolysis of glucuronide conjugates of xenobiotic and endobiotic metabolites.
Features and Benefits
pH optima 4.0 - 5.0.Sulfatase pH optima 6.2Low Sulfatase activity (﹤7,500 units/mL).Ammonium Sulfate suspension.Mollusk-derived beta-glucuronidase.Useful for acidic hydrolysis of glucuronides in low pH samples.
General description
β-Glucuronidase Type H-2 from Helix pomatia is a crude solution of enzymes derived from the digestive juices of the Roman snail. β-glucuronidases derived from mollusks often contain sulfatase activity. Both activities are useful in the hydrolysis of metabolites for toxicology and biomarker analysis. For a broader look at our β-Glucuronidase product line and their uses see our page about Drug Metabolite Analysis
Linkage
Similar to G0876, but produced by Sigma.
Packaging
25 mL in glass bottle
Physical form
Aqueous solution in ~1.0 M ammonium sulfate with 3 mM sodium azide as preservative.
Quality
Many β-glucuronidases derived from mollusks also contain sulfatase activity.
Unit Definition
One Sigma or modified Fishman unit will liberate 1.0 µg of phenolphthalein from phenolphthalein glucuronide per hr at 37 °C at pH 5.0 (30 min assay).
Sulfatase Unit Definition: One unit of sulfatase will hydrolyze 1.0 µmole p-nitrocatechol sulfate per hr at pH 5.0 at 37 °C.
