Application
Water soluble reagent, used for selective reduction of disulfides. More stable than DTT and useful in mass spectrometry applications.
Tris(2-carboxyethyl)phosphine hydrochloride has been used:as a component of IRE1 dialysis buffer, RNA cleavage buffer, and in in vitrocleavage assay ofin vitrotranscribed RNA in reducing sulfhydryl groups to obtain total thiol fractionto reduce protein samples
General description
Tris(2-carboxyethyl)-phosphine hydrochloride (TCEP) is a strong reducing agent that is stable in an aqueous solution. It readily and stoichiometrically reduces disulfides with high specificity. TCEP exhibits reducing activity at pH 1.5 to pH 9.0 and reduces dehydroascorbic acid (DHA) at pH 4.
