Furosemidecan block the Na+/K+/2Cl-co-transporter in the ascending thick loop of Henle.It can enhance the synthesis of intrarenal prostaglandin. It enhances its ototoxicity in animals when used along with kanamycin. Furosemideis linked withthiamine insufficiency in individuals with heart failure.

Inhibits ion co-transport in the kidney.
