Students study the blood alcohol content chart in the guide and make predictions about how many servings will result in a positive test for the 0.4% and 0.8% breathalyser test tubes. Students should understand that each serving or unit of alcohol varies depending on the beverage that is consumed.
The kit consists of:
- Breath - alcohol infuser apparatus
- Cotton Balls for infuser apparatus
- 3 x 0.04% alcohol testers; 3 x 0.08% alcohol testers
- 1 Alcohol tester whistle
- 2oz bottle of alcohol (90% ethanol, 5% isopropyl, 5% methanol)
- 1000ml beaker; 25ml graduated cylinder
- MSDS (Material Safety data sheet) for alcohol
- Lesson plan with student handout
