As part of our recent catalogue launch, we’ve planted 2500 trees in partnership with One Tree Planted, reducing our carbon footprint. We have planted over double the number of trees required to offset the carbon emitted in the production and delivery of our catalogue through this initiative.

Project description/objective

The Essex Forest encompasses planting on a range of sites and requirements across the county. Therefore we will adapt the planting requirements on each site. Examples include the creation of wet woodland (a UK priority habitat) on river floodplains, habitat creation and connectivity across agricultural land and parkland creation.

Ecological Benefits

Essex is a region with very few connected forest habitats owing to its agricultural and urban development. This is within a country that has significantly lower forest cover than other comparable nations. The ecological benefits of creating and connecting woodland are exceptional and the ecology of each planting site is often the primary concern in the planning stages.

Community Benefits

The Essex Forest Initiative intends to connect people with nature through the planting of trees. Community volunteer support will be encouraged in the planting and maintenance of the sites and the educational aspect of the benefits of being near to and understanding trees will be central to the legacy of our planting.

The catalogue is also produced using FSC certified paper which is paper that has been harvested in a responsible and sustainable manner. FSC certified paper utilises both renewable and recyclable paper and other print substrates made from trees, but only when they are responsibly sourced and sensitively processed. We are proud that all our marketing literature is produced using this method.
