This month's spotlight on sustainability falls on the Eppendorf Tubes BioBased 5mL Sterile Pyrogen DNase RNase and DNA Free.
Made from 90% biobased plastic, these tubes offer reliable sample handling tools for a wide range of laboratory applications. In addition to their eco-friendly composition, they boast high g-Safe centrifugation stability, withstanding up to 25,000 x g for the 5mL tubes, 19,500 x g for the 15mL and 50mL tubes, and 17,000 x g for the 25mL tubes. Their precise dimensions ensure maximum compatibility with centrifuge rotors, mixers, and shakers, while offering optimal sample and pellet visibility, making them a versatile and environmentally-conscientious choice for your lab.
This product has been awarded four out of five possible sustainability attributes, including: Sustainable Raw Material Award, Sustainable Product Manufacturing Award, Sustainable Distribution & Packaging Award, as well as Sustainable Use Award.
These awards have been granted on the following criteria:
- Sustainable Raw Material Award: Made using more than 80% recycled material or renewable raw materials; Uses materials which have a reduced environmental impact (e.g. refrigerant with a low global warming potential); Designed to reduce the use of raw materials.
- Sustainable Product Manufacturing Award: Made in a facility which runs on >90% renewable energy; Measures were in place during the manufacture of this product to reduce energy consumption; Measures were in place during the manufacture of this product to reduce water usage.
- Sustainable Distribution & Packaging Award: Country of origin has an Environmental Performance Index (EPI) greater than 60; Product reduces need for packaging.
- Sustainable Use Award: Product reduces or replaces the need for consumables.
